After entering my Download
Code to download a book, I got a
message that said "there was a problem connecting to your host".
It is best to be connected to the Internet before entering your Download Code to
download a book. The Reader software will try to bring up your internet
connection if you are not already connected, but depending on your machine's
configuration, this may not always be possible.
AOL Users: It may take more than one try to download books over AOL.
When I enter the Download Code
given to me by email the
Pink Flamingo Ebooks keeps telling me that the code is wrong. I used cut and
paste from your email response to enter it, so it cannot possibly be wrong.
Often, cut & paste will add a space on one or both sides of the Download
Code.
Please make sure no spaces exist on either side of the Downlaod Code when it is
entered into the Reader window.
I've downloaded and installed the Reader as instructed,
connected to your site, the books download, but then I don't see anything.

When you run the Reader, the Book Selection Window appears first. Select Open
from the Menu Section or click the Library button. Click on the book you wish to read, then
hit the Read Book button. To pull up this window after the Reader is already
running, press the Book Select button. |
What is a Proxy?
| A proxy is a computer that acts as an intermediary
between a workstation user and the Internet so that many computers can
share internet access and ensure security and administrative control. If
you get your internet access at your place of work, you might be using a proxy. If
you use a commercial ISP, you probably don't use a proxy

After
downloading the books, when I went to view them I received EBS Error.
Bad Book File.
This has to do with how the Reader uses the downloaded book files. The
books are compressed files. If you have a file compression program
installed on your computer that treats compressed files as folders,
then that is the cause of the problem. Because of that program,
Pink Flamingo Ebooks sees a folder instead of a file.
Programs known to cause this problem are:
- Zip Magic
- StarCompress
- NetZip
Compression programs that are known to co-exist just fine with the
Pink Flamingo Ebooks Reader include:
The Solution is to either un-install these programs, or (in the
case of Zip Magic) add the Pink Flamingo Ebooks to the "Exclusion
List". For more information, please see the documentation that
came with your file compression program.
Can I transfer downloaded books from one computer to
another
At the present time, downloaded books can only be read on the machine they
were originally downloaded on. If you are upgrading your computer you may
qualify for a reload as a user backup. Read the How Do I back up my Books
below.
